It was a good run, but Phalen Leadership Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their 11-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 64-55 to the University Trailblazers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Falcon of the 82-67 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Phalen Leadership Academy lost, don't look at Drelan Vaden. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Vaden a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Raymond Haggard, who shot 63% from the field on his way to 12 points.

Even though they lost, Phalen Leadership Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Phalen Leadership Academy's loss dropped their record down to 19-13. As for University, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-9.

Phalen Leadership Academy has already played their next game, a 74-47 defeat against Park Tudor on the 28th. As for University, they will challenge Covenant Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
