Football Recap: St. Augustine Yellow Jackets vs. Ridgeview Panthers
If Ridgeview wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played St. Augustine, they should've done a better job of containing Trenton Jones. The St. Augustine Yellow Jackets simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Ridgeview Panthers 63-7 thanks in part to Jones, who picked up 61 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 50 yards and a touchdown. Those 50 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.
Somourian Wingo did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 122 receiving yards. He showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 59 yards.
The victory was the fourth in a row for St. Augustine, bringing their record for this year to 7-1. As for Ridgeview, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Augustine will face off against Mandarin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mandarin is on a four-game streak of home wins, St. Augustine a nine-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. As for Ridgeview, they will take on Episcopal School of Jacksonville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
