Basketball Game Preview: Washington Eagles vs. Stafford Spartans

The Washington Eagles will challenge the Stafford Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Washington sitting on seven straight victories and Stafford on 36.

Washington is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They slipped by Almeta Crawford 65-64. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd in Texas, while the Chargers are ranked 297th in Texas), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Samuel Johnson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 23 points and ten boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Another player making a difference was Greg Moore, who went 7-for-16 en route to 16 points.

Washington was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Almeta Crawford only seven assists.

Meanwhile, Stafford strolled past Hargrave with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 62-45.

Stafford's win bumped their record up to 36-0. As for Washington, their victory bumped their record up to 27-4.

Washington beat Stafford 53-44 in their previous matchup back in December of 2017. Will Washington repeat their success, or does Stafford have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
