Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fisher Catholic). They blew past Fairfield Christian Academy 19-1 on Wednesday. The Irish haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Olivia Haynes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Haynes was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Vanessa Funk was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those RBI were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Beaseau, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Fisher Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Fisher Catholic's record now sits at 3-4. As for Berne Union, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-3.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Berne Union has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .517. However, it's not like Fisher Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .449. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Berne Union couldn't quite get it done against Fisher Catholic in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 10-5. Can the Rockets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
