Preview: Fort Worth THESA Riders vs. Lubbock T Titans
Fort Worth THESA has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on The Lubbock T Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Fort Worth THESA took a serious blow against East Texas Homeschool Sports, falling 76-40. While losing is never fun, Fort Worth THESA can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 96th, while East Texas Homeschool Sports is ranked 25th).
Although Fort Worth THESA took the loss, they still got scores from Trac Carlson, Jaxson Naumann, and Owen Lamar.
Meanwhile, Lubbock T had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Midland Texas Leadership Charter Academy 45-20. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Lubbock T just coasted through the last quarter.
Among those leading the charge was Isaac Kelly, who rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Kelly is on a roll when it comes to solo tackles, as he's now made six or more in the last three games he's played. Britt Morris was another key contributor, gaining 44 total yards and two touchdowns.
East Texas Homeschool Sports' victory bumped their season record to 6-1 while Fort Worth THESA's defeat dropped theirs to 3-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's contest: Fort Worth THESA has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 168.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Lubbock T struggles in that department as they've been averaging 164 per game. It's looking like Saturday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Fort Worth THESA came up short against Lubbock T when the teams last played back in November of 2021, falling 36-32. Thankfully for Fort Worth THESA, Karson Schmidt (who rushed for 166 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
