Valley Christian is on a seven-game streak of home wins, while Coolidge is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Trojans will host the Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Valley Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Last Friday, Valley Christian got the win against Snowflake by a conclusive 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Abrielle Jarles was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Sophie Kercsmar was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Valley Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Snowflake only posted a batting average of .211.
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Coolidge's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Tanque Verde by a score of 2-0. The Bears were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the three contests prior), but the Hawks' pitcher proved too tough.
Autumn Hoover spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on nine hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.
On the hitting side, Coolidge saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natasha Juan, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Valley Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-2-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Coolidge, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.
Coolidge's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Valley Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Coolidge, though, as they've been averaging only 3.6 strikeouts. Will Valley Christian keep running through batters, or will the Bears buck the trend?
Valley Christian took their victory against Coolidge in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-0 score. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
