Football Game Preview: Seminole Indians vs. Fort Stockton Panthers

For the first time this season, Seminole will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will host the Fort Stockton Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Seminole is returning home triumphant after the team finally put their road woes behind them against Hereford on Friday. The Indians took down the Whitefaces 45-28. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 274th, while the Whitefaces are ranked 597th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Seminole had a senior duo take command as Dominick Higgins threw for 327 yards and six touchdowns while completing 82.8% of his passes and Logan McCormick picked up 124 receiving yards and three TDs. Thanks to that big game, Higgins is now up to 20 passing touchdowns on the season.

Meanwhile, Fort Stockton's game on Friday was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They were the clear victors by a 42-21 margin over Big Spring. Considering the Panthers have won three matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Fort Stockton's win came from a few key players Seminole will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Gerry Diaz, who threw for 273 yards and four TDs, and also rushed for 86 yards. His passing game has become a key predictor of Fort Stockton's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Nick Almendarez was another key player, rushing for 151 yards.

Fort Stockton's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Seminole, their win bumped their record up to an identical 4-2.

Everything came up roses for Seminole against Fort Stockton when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 62-17 victory. In that contest, the Indians amassed a halftime lead of 42-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
