Baseball Game Preview: Rustburg Red Devils vs. Amherst County Lancers

Rustburg is 2-8 against Amherst County since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Red Devils will host the Lancers at 7:30 p.m. Amherst County took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Rustburg, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Rustburg turned things around against Heritage on Friday. They never let the Pioneers get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. That looming 14-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Red Devils yet this season.

Brookville hit Amherst County with a five-run first inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lancers fell just short of the Bees by a score of 9-8.

The win got Rustburg back to even at 8-8. As for Amherst County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.
