1A Tri-Peaks recap Oct. 16, 2012
Buena Vista extended the longest winning streak in 1A Tri-Peaks this week by beating Ellicott, 48-0. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Demons.
Colorado Springs Christian led the league in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on Custer County. Jim Kenney threw for 55 yards and one touchdown and ran for 147 yards in the win.
TJ Stockton was the best wideout in the league this week as the Lions defeated the Bobcats. Stockton tallied two receptions for 70 yards. Shad Stockton helped Colorado Springs Christian's passing attack out by catching one ball for 55 yards.
Koby Close put up the best numbers through the air as Buena Vista bested the Thunderhawks. He finished with a total of three completions for 57 yards and one touchdown. Close's favorite target this week was Zakk James, who caught one pass for 40 yards.
Josh Williams made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Demons beat Ellicott. The 6-foot-2 senior pulled down one interception and forced one fumble.
Colorado Springs Christian's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Lions feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Dan Kenney has thrown for 644 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Stockton has 17 catches for 303 yards. Kenney leads the league in rushing with 912 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Buena Vista takes on second place Colorado Springs Christian. Buena Vista beat the Thunderhawks last week, while Colorado Springs Christian defeated Custer County.
Jay Kersey's team's Kenney needs only 88 yards against the Demons next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.

The top two offenses in the league, Colorado Springs Christian comes in having scored 237 this season, while the Demons have scored 322. The Lions scored 55 points last week as they bested Troy Bomgardner's team.
