Soccer Recap: Annapolis Comes Up Short

Annapolis and Crofton squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Annapolis had to settle for second. While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was Crofton who were credited with the victory. Crofton got it done in the shootout by posting two goals to the Annapolis Panthers' one. While losing is never fun, Annapolis can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland soccer rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Crofton are ranked eighth).

The defeat snapped Annapolis' winning streak at five matches and leaves them with a 10-4 record. As for Crofton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That somehow still isn't as good as their 11-1-1 record this season.

Annapolis does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Crofton, they will venture away from home to take on Leonardtown at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Leonardtown's defense has only allowed 0.3 goals per game this season, so Crofton's offense will have their work cut out for them.
