Softball Game Preview: Reading Memorial Rockets vs. Pentucket Regional

The Reading Memorial Rockets will take on Pentucket Regional at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Reading Memorial 3.9, Pentucket Regional 1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Reading Memorial is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Concord-Carlisle just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Sunday. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 6-5. Surprisingly, this marked the Rockets' sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Meanwhile, Pentucket Regional strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Haverhill a 7-0 shutout. Considering Pentucket Regional has won eight games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Pentucket Regional's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.4 runs over those games. As for Reading Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 17-2.
