Payson and Uintah are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Lions will welcome the Utes at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Last Wednesday, Payson came up short against Mountain View and fell 10-7. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brigzen Houser put in work no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Brandon Ruiz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Ty Marvin was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Uintah came into Friday's game having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bountiful on Friday, sneaking past 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Utes have posted since April 20, 2024.

Uintah's victory bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Payson, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.

Payson suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Uintah in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
