Basketball Game Preview: Butte County Pirates vs. Salmon Savages

The Butte County Pirates will face off against the Salmon Savages at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Wednesday, Butte County came up short against West Jefferson and fell 61-50. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Pirates came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Panthers are ranked 113th).

Meanwhile, Salmon also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Ririe by a score of 52-41. The Savages have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Butte County will have to contain Broc Matthews as he made an impact in Salmon's last game. He went 5 of 9 en route to 18 points and five rebounds.

Salmon's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Butte County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Everything came up roses for Butte County against Salmon in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 71-39 win. Does Butte County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Salmon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
