After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Shadow Ridge, Maryvale was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They put the hurt on the South Mountain Jaguars with a sharp 20-11 victory. Considering the Panthers have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jaline Ortega was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three doubles, and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Marianna Jennings was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Maryvale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .550. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Maryvale's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for South Mountain, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14-1 record this season.
