Basketball Game Preview: Charlotte Orioles vs. St. Johns Redwings

Charlotte hasn't had much luck against St. Johns recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Charlotte Orioles will head out to face off against the St. Johns Redwings at 7:00 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Charlotte is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 50-45 heartbreaker at the hands of Quincy.

Despite the defeat, Charlotte saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Peyton Howarth went 9 for 16 from beyond the arc on her way to 29 points. The dominant performance gave Howarth a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Silvas, who posted six points and nine assists.

Meanwhile, St. Johns' undefeated season came to an end after three games on Thursday. They took a 41-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Williamston. The loss was the Redwings' first of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, St. Johns fell to 3-1. As for Charlotte, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Charlotte came up short against St. Johns in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 58-45. Can Charlotte avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
