Football Game Preview: Southridge Skyhawks vs. Mountainside Mavericks

The Southridge Skyhawks will square off against the Mountainside Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Southridge has given up an average of 30.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Southridge came up short against Beaverton on Friday, falling 40-14. The Skyhawks haven't had much luck with the Beavers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mountainside). They blew past Sunset 56-20 on Friday. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Mavericks had established a 35-point advantage.

Mountainside's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 47.8 points over those games. As for Southridge, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Southridge was dealt a bruising 49-0 defeat at the hands of Mountainside when the teams last played back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Mavericks' Cade Mitchell, who threw for 184 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes, and also punched in one rushing score.
