Baseball Recap: Alexandria-Monroe Has No Trouble Against Blackford

Alexandria-Monroe owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Blackford Bruins with a sharp 9-0 win. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by seven runs or more this season.

Griffin Cox tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Trevor Martin and Mason Fuller did most of the damage at the plate: Martin went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI, while Fuller went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four hits gave Martin a new career-high. Jon Aiman also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Alexandria-Monroe kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blackford only managed one hit.

Alexandria-Monroe's victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Blackford, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Looking ahead, Alexandria-Monroe will take on Yorktown at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Yorktown will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Blackford, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 10-0 defeat against Shenandoah on the 2nd.
