Basketball Game Preview: St. Mary's Knights vs. Arcadia Titans

The St. Mary's Knights will head out to challenge the Arcadia Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither St. Mary's nor Arcadia posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

St. Mary's is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Mesquite on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. St. Mary's had to suffer through a 104-20 loss at the hands of Mesquite. The defeat continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost eight in a row.

Meanwhile, Arcadia took a blow against Saguaro on Wednesday, falling 64-17. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while the Sabercats are ranked 103rd).

St. Mary's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-7. As for Arcadia, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.

Everything came up roses for St. Mary's against Arcadia when the teams last played on Friday, as the team secured a 42-13 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Mary's since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
