Basketball Game Preview: Green Hope Falcons vs. Cary Imps

The Green Hope Falcons will square off against the Cary Imps at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Green Hope got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They came out on top against Apex by a score of 53-44 on Friday. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while the Cougars are ranked 420th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Green Hope got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ian Hazard out in front who went 6 of 10 on his way to 13 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kody Frey, who went 6 for 15 en route to 15 points and eight boards.

Meanwhile, Cary didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Apex Friendship on Friday, but they still walked away with a 67-63 victory.

Cary is also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Green Hope, they now also have a winning record of 8-7.

Green Hope came up short against Cary in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 77-67. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Cary's Brandon Nixon, who went 11 of 15 on his way to 29 points and seven rebounds. Now that Green Hope knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
