Basketball Game Preview: Akins Eagles vs. Westlake Chaparrals

Akins hasn't had much luck against Westlake recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eagles will be home for the holidays to greet the Chaparrals at 7:00 p.m. Akins has given up an average of 61 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Last Friday, Akins was beaten by Dripping Springs 82-11. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1343rd, while the Tigers are ranked 269th).

Meanwhile, Westlake strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-49 victory over Brennan.

Akins' loss dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Westlake, their win bumped their record up to 19-0.

Akins took a serious blow against Westlake in their previous matchup back in January, falling 82-26. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Eagles were down 36-11.
