League recap: Erwin enters state Top 25

Erwin was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping North Buncombe. The Warriors came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 28 last week.

Adding to the longest winning streak in 4A/3A Conference 1 this week, Erwin beat the Black Hawks 63-0. The win marks ninth in a row for the Mike Sexton's team.

Roberson's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Reggie Pinner threw for 107 and 2 touchdowns and Marcus Jenkins had 88 yards receiving. On the ground Seth Coleman chipped in 125 yards.

Coleman was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 27 carries, he ran for 125 yards as the Rams fell to Asheville. Pinner also contributed to the rushing game with 96 yards on the ground.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Roberson's Pinner and Jenkins have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-4 quarterback Pinner has thrown for 2,204 yards this season, while Jenkins has 44 catches for 731 yards. Tommy Holloway from Enka leads the league in rushing with 659 yards.

An important game coming up in 4A/3A Conference 1 this week will be when Jim Beatty's team takes on A.C. Reynolds. At the moment, the Rams are in fourth, while the Rockets are in third.

The league will see a high scoring game when Roberson and A.C. Reynolds face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Rams comes in having scored 244 this season, while Shane Laws' team has scored 186. Roberson scored 28 points last week as it lost to the Cougars.

North Buncombe fell to the Warriors 63-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Chase Parker was a bright spot for the Black Hawks, as he threw for 26 yards and ran for 30 yards in the loss.
