Baseball Recap: Preston Takes a Loss

Preston dropped their record down to 8-7 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Grafton Bearcats by a score of 9-8. The Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bearcats earlier this season, when they won 9-8.

Bryson McNew made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Gideon Oliphant, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.

As for Grafton, the victory got them back to even at 13-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 18th.

On Grafton's side, Carter Gillespie was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Gillespie a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chace Kinsey, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Preston will face off against Lincoln at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight. As for Grafton, they will take on St. Marys at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Devils will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
