Softball Preview: Freedom Patriots vs. Hibriten Panthers
Freedom has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Hibriten Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
Last Wednesday, Freedom fell victim to a rough 12-1 loss at the hands of Alexander Central.
Freedom saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniell Robinson, who went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Robinson has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive pitching appearances.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Wednesday Hibriten sidestepped East Burke for a 9-8 win. The victory was just what Hibriten needed coming off of a 16-4 defeat in their prior contest.
Freedom's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Hibriten, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-9.
Freedom took their victory against Hibriten in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 17-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for Freedom since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
