Recap: Edgewood Red Wolves vs. Satellite Scorpions
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cocoa, the Edgewood Red Wolves were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They came out on top against Satellite by a score of 44-34. This was payback for Edgewood, who suffered a 36-31 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Edgewood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sophia Calero led the charge by scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Preble, who scored nine points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Satellite lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sydney Logsdon. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 38.2% of Satellite's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Leigh Hertel, who scored four points along with two steals.
Edgewood's win was their 14th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. As for Satellite, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Edgewood will take on Cocoa Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cocoa Beach is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. Satellite won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Titusville at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th.
