Softball Recap: Edgewood Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Edgewood had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They never let the Mountain View Vikings get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won four games by 11 runs or more so far this season.

A Hurtado made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, X Gomez was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. L Almendariz was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Edgewood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.

Edgewood now has a winning record of 6-5-1. As for Mountain View, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Edgewood will head out to square off against Pomona at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mountain View, they will venture away from home to take on Providence at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pioneers have averaged an impressive 9.7 runs per game this season.
