Basketball Recap: Ethan Juarez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Garden Grove over Katella

Garden Grove lost against Katella on January 8th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Garden Grove Argonauts fell just short of the Katella Knights by a score of 48-45. While the Argonauts didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Knights 16-4 in the first quarter.

Several Argonauts players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ethan Juarez, who posted 20 points and three steals. Juarez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Neiman Quach, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards.

Katella got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Michael Montejo out in front who put up seven points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Montejo is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Dillon Curtis was another key player, going 5 of 9 en route to 16 points and seven boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Garden Grove and nudges their season record down to 13-12. As for Katella, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-8 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Garden Grove will face off against Segerstrom at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Garden Grove is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.7 points per game this season. As for Katella, they will take on Kennedy at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Kennedy will roll in looking for their 19th straight win, something Katella surely won't give up without a fight.
