Miller Grove (Lithonia, Ga.) head coach Sharman White confirmed his star point guard, Alterique Gilbert, committed to Connecticut over the holiday weekend.

Gilbert, a 5-foot-11 rising senior, initially made the announcement via Twitter on July 4.Rated as the No. 37 overall prospect in 2016 class by 247Sports, Gilbert earned MaxPreps Junior All-American honors in 2013-14 after putting up 18.5 points and handing out 6.2 assists per game.

Miller Grove is arguably the top program in Georgia with six consecutive state titles from 2009-14. The Wolverines were pegged as the 12th best high school program in the nation over the last five years by MaxPreps in April.
