Recap: Elizabeth Forward Warriors vs. Avonworth Antelopes
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Elizabeth Forward Warriors can now relate to. They fell 21-10 to Avonworth on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 42 points in the game before, Elizabeth Forward couldn't push the score so high this time.
Ryan Messina threw for 77 yards and a touchdown. Charlie Nigut was his top target, picking up 27 receiving yards.
It was another big night for Andrew Kuban, who rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.1 yards per carry, and also threw for eight yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes.
Another reason for the win was Avonworth's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Mason Metz.
Elizabeth Forward's loss dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Avonworth, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Elizabeth Forward does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Avonworth will take on Belle Vernon at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Belle Vernon is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
