Softball Preview: Corinth Warriors vs. Russellville Golden Tigers

The Corinth Warriors will be taking part in a tournament against the Russellville Golden Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Russellville took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Corinth, who comes in off a win.

Corinth will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs last Tuesday, then bounced right back against Alcorn Central on Tuesday. Everything went Corinth's way against Alcorn Central as Corinth made off with a 15-3 victory. The Warriors' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Kinley Pittman and McKinley Moore made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Pittman pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Moore tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Furthermore, Pittman didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. At bat, Pittman scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances, while Moore went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. In other batting news, Maggie Parchman was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. Spencer Kate Butler was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Corinth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Russellville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Deshler, falling 12-0.

The win got Corinth back to even at 2-2. As for Russellville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Corinth couldn't quite finish off Russellville in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can Corinth avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
