Baseball Game Preview: Cornerstone Christian Warriors vs. Alamo Heights Mules

The Cornerstone Christian Warriors will face off against the Alamo Heights Mules at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Cornerstone Christian took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past FEAST HomeSchool 13-1. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Alamo Heights not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 6th. Everything went their way against Southwest as Alamo Heights made off with a 12-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mules.

Yul Salaburu and Luke Spielhagen made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Salaburu pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Spielhagen pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). At the plate, Salaburu went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double, while Spielhagen scored five runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most RBI Salaburu has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Blake Bader and Watson Laswell did most of the damage at the plate: Bader scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Laswell scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Those three runs gave Laswell a new career-high. Albert Colglazier was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Alamo Heights was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Cornerstone Christian's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Alamo Heights, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11-1.
