Ward Melville lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Walt Whitman, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's matchup. The Patriots put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 7-1 win on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Ward Melville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Walt Whitman, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-6.

Looking ahead, Ward Melville will challenge Lindenhurst at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Walt Whitman, they will square off against West Babylon at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight.
