Recap: Savannah Bluejackets vs. Johnson Atomsmashers
If the Savannah Bluejackets were riding high off their 56-6 takedown of the Memorial Day Matadors on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Savannah fell just short of Johnson by a score of 47-44. It was the first time this season that Savannah let down their fans at home.
Several Bluejackets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tania Bryant, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. Bryant scored a full 36.4% of Savannah's points, the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Williams, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Savannah's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-4. As for Johnson, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.
Savannah won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Windsor Forest at 4:00 p.m. on December 16th. Johnson won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hilton Head Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on December 16th. Hopefully Hilton Head Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Friday.
