Basketball Game Preview: WISH Academy Owls vs. Animo Venice Pirates

The WISH Academy Owls will head out to take on the Animo Venice Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. WISH Academy's defense has only allowed 24 points per game this season, so Animo Venice's offense will have their work cut out for them.

WISH Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Burton, posting a 74-5 victory. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Owls considering their 18-point performance the game before.

Kourtney Woodruff had a dynamite game for WISH Academy, putting up 30 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kailey Leon, who posted 16 points.

Meanwhile, Animo Venice has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 28.14 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit back in December of 2024. They were beaten by Vistamar 65-11. The Pirates' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Animo Venice now has a losing record at 3-4. As for WISH Academy, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Everything came up roses for WISH Academy against Animo Venice in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 69-11 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for WISH Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
