Soccer Game Preview: Charleston Catholic vs. Bridgeport

The Charleston Catholic Irish will head out on the road to challenge the Bridgeport Indians at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Charleston Catholic will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Charleston Catholic is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: Huntington, who was ranked 24th at the time (Charleston Catholic was ranked 13th). The Irish never let the Highlanders get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Tuesday. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Charleston Catholic were the better team in the second half.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Ella Green, who's now up to 11 this season.

Meanwhile, Bridgeport made easy work of Buckhannon-Upshur on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 victory. Bridgeport might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by three goals or more this season.

Charleston Catholic's win bumped their record up to 7-4-1. As for Bridgeport, the victory got them back to even at 6-6-1.

Charleston Catholic skirted past Bridgeport 3-2 in their previous matchup back in September of 2023. Do the Irish have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
