Preview: Aynor Blue Jackets vs. Latta Vikings
The Aynor Blue Jackets's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Latta Vikings at 7:45 p.m. on December 12th. Hopefully Aynor focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday.
Last Friday, Aynor was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 46-42 to Green Sea Floyds.
Despite their loss, Aynor saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kayden Holden, who scored 8 points along with 4 steals, was perhaps the best of all. Austin Tanyika was another key contributor, scoring 6 points.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Latta beat East Clarendon 50-46 on Thursday.
Dorian Griffin was the offensive standout of the match as he scored 13 points along with 5 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Latta's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amir Rogers, who scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds.
Their wins bumped Aynor to 3-5 and Green Sea Floyds to 6-2.
Tuesday's matchup is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Aynor have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Latta struggles in that department as they've been even better at 30.7 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
