Basketball Recap: ABF Academy Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

ABF Academy entered their tilt with IMG Academy Navy on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the IMG Academy Navy Ascenders by a score of 67-54. Given the Cowboys' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while the Ascenders are ranked 454th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead ABF Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Estoyan Vargas, who posted 19 points. Vargas continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Miguel Ruiz, who scored 15 points.

ABF Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for IMG Academy Navy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. ABF Academy will welcome Victory Rock Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for IMG Academy Navy, they will take on Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
