Baseball Recap: Oak Grove Starts off Right with Win over John Carroll Catholic

Oak Grove gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the John Carroll Catholic Cavaliers a 9-0 shutout. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Colton Praytor and Dalton Troncalli made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Praytor didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits over five innings pitched. Meanwhile, Troncalli pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those no hits gave him a new career-low. At the plate, Praytor scored a run while going 1-for-2, while Troncalli scored a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Wiley Hicks was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jay Fuller, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Coincidentally, Oak Grove and John Carroll Catholic will both be playing Corner the next time they take the field. John Carroll Catholic will host Corner at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while Oak Grove will host them at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
