League recap: Lauer dominating on the mound for Midview

West Shore league recap: 5/22/13

Midview's Eric Lauer was the best pitcher in West Shore this week. Over the past week, he had one win and 14 Ks.

Top honors in the league this week go to Elyria Catholic, which finished with four wins overall, good for best in the league. The Panthers beat Vermilion 9-1, Wellington 13-4, the Dukes 10-0 and Black River 9-5.

The Middies boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

The league boasted five .400 hitters over the past week. They were led by Ryan Smith, who hit .625 this week (5-for-8).

Lauer hit an excellent .500 for Midview. His season batting average leads the league at .416.



The Middies' Lauer threw seven shutout innings in a 1-0 win over North Ridgeville on Friday. He pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out 14, while giving up two hits.
