The Atkinson County Rebels and the Jeff Davis Yellowjackets will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Atkinson County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
On Saturday, Atkinson County really took it to McIntosh County Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 64-35 victory at home. That 64-35 margin sets a new team best for Atkinson County this season.
Atkinson County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ja'Kari Northcutt led the charge by scoring 17 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Northcutt has scored at least 25% of Atkinson County's points. Trinity Bolden was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 63-18, which was the final score in Jeff Davis' tilt against Toombs County last Saturday. Jeff Davis has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Atkinson County is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Jeff Davis, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
