Softball Recap: Luverne Takes a Loss

Luverne has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging four runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Thursday. They came up short against the Pike Liberal Arts Patriots, falling 14-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Tigers have suffered since April 29, 2024.

Kayleigh McCreary made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Fraizer, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

This is the second loss in a row for Luverne and nudges their season record down to 3-6-1. As for Pike Liberal Arts, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-9.

Coming up, Luverne will take on Zion Chapel at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Pike Liberal Arts, they will square off against Lee-Scott Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
