Softball Recap: Thomaston Bears vs. Somers Spartans
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Thomaston had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They skirted past the Somers Spartans 3-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for Thomaston.
Sloan Walmsley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 12 Ks.
At the plate, Addison Patchell was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jackie Phillips, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Thomaston has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Somers, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.
Thomaston will challenge University/Classical Magnet on Wednesday. University/Classical Magnet knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with flashy run totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Thomaston likes a good challenge.
