Baseball Recap: Schlarman Drops Highest Score of Season Against Danville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Schlarman). They were the clear victors by a 14-8 margin over the Danville Vikings on Monday. The Hilltoppers have beaten the Vikings the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Vikings has come to flipping the script.

Miles Crosby was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Schlarman's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-12 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Schlarman let Grayson Kruger and Peyton Kummerle run wild. Kruger went 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Kummerle went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Kruger a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Billings, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Schlarman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Schlarman's record now sits at 6-12. As for Danville, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-25.

As of now, neither Schlarman nor the Vikings have any future games scheduled.
