Aiden Leonard leads Union Pines to victory over South Johnston

Recap: Union Pines Vikings vs. South Johnston Trojans
The Union Pines Vikings came tearing into Friday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 78-69 victory over South Johnston. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Aiden Leonard continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 29 points along with 5 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Union Pines' points. Another player making a difference was Zion Kiser, who scored 11 points along with 3 steals.
Union Pines' win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for South Johnston, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union Pines will square off against Lee County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Lee County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Wednesday. As for South Johnston, they will head out on the road to face off against Southern Nash at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
