Basketball Recap: South Spencer Takes a Loss

South Spencer lost against Heritage Hills back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The South Spencer Rebels lost 70-47 to the Heritage Hills Patriots. The Rebels were down 51-31 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Heritage Hills' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tait Wetzel led the charge by going 8 of 11 en route to 19 points in addition to five rebounds and four blocks. The dominant performance gave Wetzel a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Colten Hopf, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 17 points along with six assists and six boards.

South Spencer dropped their record down to 7-9 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Heritage Hills, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6.

South Spencer will be playing at home against Perry Central at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Heritage Hills, they will square off against Boonville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Heritage Hills is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.3 points per game this season.
