Basketball Recap: Loveland Classical Takes a Loss

If Loveland Classical was feeling good fresh off their 35-2 takedown of STEM School Highlands Ranch last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Loveland Classical Lions had to suffer through a 42-15 loss at the hands of the Flatirons Academy Bison. The Lions have struggled against the Bison recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Kaelyn Doan was Loveland Classical's leading scorer, having posted four points. Gracie Saxton held things down on the boards with seven rebounds.

Leading Flatirons Academy to victory were Claire Friedman and Annabelle Rakers. Friedman went 6-for-10 on her way to 17 points and eight boards, while Rakers posted ten points along with eight assists and seven steals. The dominant performance also gave Friedman a new career-high in blocks (two). Emma Donato was another key player, putting up a point in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Loveland Classical's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Flatirons Academy, their victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4.

Loveland Classical wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 40-31 win against Twin Peaks Classical Academy on the 12th. As for Flatirons Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 52-25 victory against Lyons on the 11th.
