Basketball Game Preview: Cary-Grove Trojans vs. Hampshire Whip-Purs

The Cary-Grove Trojans will challenge the Hampshire Whip-Purs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hampshire took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Cary-Grove, who comes in off a win.

On Wednesday, Cary-Grove was fully in charge, breezing past Dundee-Crown 52-12. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 58 points the game before, Hampshire was a bit more limited in their game on Wednesday. They took a blow against Huntley, falling 51-23. While losing is never fun, the Whip-Purs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while the Red Raiders are ranked 14th).

Cary-Grove has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.1 points per game. As for Hampshire, they now have a losing record at 11-12.

Cary-Grove took their victory against Hampshire in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 53-30. Will Cary-Grove repeat their success, or does Hampshire have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
