Preview: Cedar Valley Aviators vs. Salem Hills Skyhawks
The Cedar Valley Aviators will be playing at home against the Salem Hills Skyhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cedar Valley has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 384 points over their last six games.
On Tuesday, Cedar Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Spanish Fork, taking the game 66-54.
Cedar Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hunter Larson, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Larson hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Heath Christensen, who scored 13 points along with five assists.
Meanwhile, even though Wasatch scored an imposing 70 points on Tuesday, Salem Hills still came out on top. Salem Hills walked away with a 77-70 victory over Wasatch. The score was all tied up 35-35 at the break, but Salem Hills was the better team in the second half.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Salem Hills to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kason Averett, who scored 13 points along with six assists and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Averett has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Degraffenried, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds.
Cedar Valley's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Salem Hills, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.
Cedar Valley beat Salem Hills 80-73 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Will Cedar Valley repeat their success, or does Salem Hills have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
