Recap: Rankin Red Devils vs. Buena Vista Longhorns
The Rankin Red Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Buena Vista, falling 79-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Rankin has suffered yet this season.
Jackie Jurado continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Buena Vista, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. Jurado is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 19 games he's played. Caden Valdez was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Rankin has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Buena Vista, their win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rankin will challenge Gordon at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Gordon has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 284 points over their last four matches. As for Buena Vista, they will head out on the road to take on Marathon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Marathon comes in on a streak of failing to score more than zero points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
