Basketball Game Preview: Riesel Indians vs. Axtell Longhorns

The Riesel Indians will face off against the Axtell Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Riesel is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Marlin just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 46-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 60 points the game before, Axtell was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They were beaten by Marlin 49-22. The Longhorns have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Axtell's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Riesel, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 11-4.

Everything came up roses for Riesel against Axtell in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 57-25 win. Will Riesel repeat their success, or does Axtell have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
