Softball Recap: Eagle Mountain Snags Fourth Victory in Last Five Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Aubrey, Eagle Mountain was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Decatur Eagles by a score of 7-4.

Ashlyn Eggleton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Olivia Wilson, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

Eagle Mountain has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-10-1 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.2 hits in those games compared to only 4.67 in the others. Decatur's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-4.

Coincidentally, Eagle Mountain and Decatur will both be playing Springtown the next time they take the field. Decatur will head out to face Springtown at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while Eagle Mountain will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
